The Best Fortnight Of My Life...

On finishing November last week, I did not see myself in this position - and quite frankly, I think I'm having my most enjoyable fortnight of the year!

Sunday 4th December, 2022

The good news began late last week when I received a text from a local driving instructor, letting me know he had availability in the next week. Prior to this, he only had availability in the new year, so this was absolutely amazing news.

Tuesday 6th - Monday 12th December, 2022

The following week was Week 13, and looking back through my results, I'm pretty sure it was my best Week 13 to date, bringing home silverware on 5/7 days - with the exception of Lime Rock Park (W1) and GR86's at Okayama. Sometimes I'd bring home multiple trophies home.

On top of this, I never qualified outside the Top 10 - which also had a massively positive impact on my mood - and race position.

On Monday, I also had a very positive Universal Credit meeting, and we are trying a different approach to try and get me into work (National Careers Service).

On Tuesday, BeamNG.Drive released a major update including 5 cars and a new map - impressive stuff - especially considering the GIGANTIC size of the new map.

The new update is geared slightly more towards an "off-road" fan-base (Baja, extreme off-road etc.) but I'm always down for more content!

Wednesday 14th December, 2022

Today, I had a VERY successful debut in the Formula 4 and incredible first race of the season - putting me at an iRating I've never seen before! It certainly deserves its own blog though!

Thursday 15th December, 2022

On the 15th, I have my very first driving lesson in a manual car. I've been in touch with a company on the island looking for someone with a manual licence - and even if it takes me 3, 6, 9 or 12 months - it will always be an option - and finally a way to earn my own money.

Getting a manual licence - also removes two barriers to three things:

1) Getting my dream job of being a Highway Traffic Officer, with a manual licence, I will only need to live within an hour of a "base" to be in with a shot. 2) Having a manual licence means I can buy a Lamborghini Huracan Trofeo experience day - I've always wanted to drive a GT3 and to be in a Lamborghini would be honestly a dream come true.

3) It removes yet a further barrier from completing my ARDS/getting a racing licence - a life-goal of mine. With that, if anyone is LOOKING for a driver, I can wave my arm and say "hey" - or with the funding for my job, I could buy a £500 shitbox Citroen C1 and take it racing? Maybe?

Dreams are meant to be chased - what else will I do with the next 60 years ahead of me?

Friday 16th December, 2022

On Friday, I'll be seeing Avatar II - The Way Of The Water - the first Avatar film to be released in 13 Years (I was 9 when the first one came out - weird to think about) - in fact, weirder still is to think that there will be some members of the audience born after the first film came out...WHAT?!

It will certainly be an experience to remember.

Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th December, 2022

On the subject of experiences to remember - we've only just got into the Winter Nurburgring 24 Hours, 2022 by the skin of our teeth - and after retiring from the official one back in April - it will be one hell of a race to both watch, experience and be a part of - even if I only do a single lap.

We've got some incredibly fast guys - so it'll be exciting to watch them set the pace - before I jump in and give them time to rest.

on Sunday evening is a carol service at our local church - I'm not hugely religious, but there's just something weirdly heart-warming and wholesome about being bundled inside a toasty-warm church, singing carols as the cold, winter wind howls outside.

As midnight strikes, It'll only be six days until Christmas eve.

What a time to be alive!

Have a good one.
