Monday 12th June, 2023: The Dominant Day (Pt. 2)

Part 1: FRL (Formula Racing League) iMotoring Mondays Race at Monza

The iMotoring Mondays League Race (FRL) finished at 9:10pm - and I noticed that the very last Battle Of The Little Wings race was on at 10:30, giving me 50 minutes to calm myself down and have a bottle of champagne.

It's been a pretty darn decent Week 13 - with some good results - and I was looking to end it on a high - back in December, I managed a double podium

(4th --> 2nd

(1st -->2nd)

Qualifying Qualifying didn't go great - qualifying right in the "meat-grinder" of the pack, qualifying 12th (second lap I had an off-track).

The Race

I...literally...have no words to describe the scenes at Turn 1....

As they always say: A Picture Says A Thousand Words...

The entirety of the Top 10 (with the exception of 5th, 8th & 9th) who miraculously escaped) were all wiped out at Turn 1 - this in turn halved my challenge of trying to get a good result (summit point isn't know for it's overtaking opportunities.

By lap 3, I'd slip down into 6th.

On lap 5 - Summit Point would claim two more victims - then P3 getting two wheels on the grass at a quick right hander and ploughing into the barriers - P5 behind following him in exactly the same fashion

My father always says "do as I say, not as I do..."

With 5 Laps to go, the leader then makes a costly mistake - at this very corner - but this time making it around the corner, but getting a wheel on the entry to the next corner....

The corner in the background has claimed countless cars and lives - here the leader puts a wheel on the dirt - and from this point he's just a passenger. He'd finish 13th from 5th on the grid.

From there my race was pretty uneventful, just bringing the car home in one piece.

And that wraps up a double podium in a day.
