Joy In June: An Incredibly Fun Week!

Hello and welcome back!

Aside from Week 13 proceedings, the week of the 5th - 11th June was also thoroughly enjoyable for other reasons too.

Monday 5th June, 2023

As QRT ended last week, another began this week - every Monday, I'd be racing in the FRL (Formula Racing League) "iMotoring Monday" Series.

This league would be a GT3 League - offering short, 30-minute sprint races to start every week.

To start the season, the series was at VIRginia International Raceway...

Only myself and two others would show up...

By the end of the night, the winner would win by over a lap and 3rd would DNF - which meant a rather quiet day out for me...Little did I know that Round 2 at Monza would be a TOTALLY different story!

I also made a friend called Ian Harte, who I'd later help with iRacing and improving as a driver.

I briefly thought about assisting others, but with over 7,000 drivers under 500 iRating - I didn't want to exclude anyone who wanted help - and I believed the issue was much too large for one person to handle - and I'm by no means perfect myself - and should they be quicker than me - the trainer would become the the trainee!

That afternoon my 2023 - 2024 Academic Calendar arrived and Rennsport released some BETA keys...only 8...with 8000 members in their Discord Servr...this didn't exactly go down well.

Tuesday 6th June, 2023

On Tuesday, Week 13 began - and as I've already done 4 seperate blogs on them, I shan't go into any detail on race reports.

I raced (or should I say iRac-ed) in a Dallara Formula 3 against the USF2000 (PM18) Pro-Mazda and a Skip Barber.

With QRT finishing up for the season (the previous week), I had a rather quiet day/evening - the only highlight being a driving lesson and an interview hwich didn't end up going anywhere.

Wednesday 7th June, 2023

In terms of results, Wednesday was an absolutely BRILLIANT day - finishing 3rd at Willow Springs in that day's Week 13 race and then finishing 3rd again later that evening in the feature race of the Delta Motorsports League (DML) GT4 Showdown.

In the first race, I finished 4th (was 3rd for 5/14 Laps) - and then managed to seal the deal in the longer feature.

Thursday 8th June, 2023

Thursday was a very...split day - I had a Universal Credit meeting, bad Battle Of The Little Wings race (ended in DNF) and a surprisingly action-packed race at the Nurburgring GP circuit - in which I managed to hold onto 5th (from 9th) after there was a late Safety Car - leaving just one lap from the end of the race...and this leading to absolute pandemonium with 5 cars getting wiped out on the final lap

I'd pass all and for 3/4 of the lap be in 4th before Tim (red and white BMW, Centre) would pass me at the final chicane.

Friday 9th June, 2023

Friday is the one awkward day in the week - I've finished up all the leagues for the week - but the endurance races haven't yet kicked off!

Nothing happened on this day, other than my Week 13 race at Aragon Motorland

Saturday 10th - Sunday 11th June, 2023

I went to the mainland and hung out with mates - before I left, I managed to sneak in two Week 13 races at Oulton Park (Sat.)

I missed Sunday's race at Okayama - but made it back home in time for Monday's race at Summit Point.

It was also the real life Le Mans 24 Hours.
