Blog A Day - Day 8: An Enthralling 2025 Lined Up For Truswell!

As Season 4, 2024 - and 2024 as a whole comes to a close, another eagerly peers eagerly around the corner.

Truth be told, 2024 didn't quite go as Truswell imagined - spending almost half the year off the sim due to moving out and technical gremlins (i.e: no internet).

2024 ended in a bad place for Truswell, falling to 1176 iRating - his worst iRating since September 2022.

December 2024 would very much be a case of "damage limitation" and an attempt to repair the damage done by the previous failed comeback.

It won't all be doom and gloom however as Truswell has the launch/release of the Hond- Sorry, Acura NSX GT3 to look forward to during Week 13 coming next week.

That being said, after Week 13, this is likely to be parked up in the garage for a few seasons - but for good reason!

From 113th Truswell slowly crawled back up to 88th (1266 iRating) to finish the year solidly - yet more importantly, set a good foundation for what will turn out to be an absolutely thrilling 2025.

S1, 2025 If iRating was on Truswell's mind - iRacing was absolutely the place to be - kicking off the year, the "PMR" triple-header at Daytona was the perfect way to start the year with a: Purr (FalkenTyre SportsCar Challenge @ Daytona) - 30 minutes

Meow (Michelin Pilot Challenge @ Daytona) - 2hrs (Sat/Sun)

ending with a ROAR with the ROAR Before the 24 on a date yet to be announced.

Following the ROAR Before The 24 is the first 24 hour race/special event of the year in the form of the Daytona 24 Hours - a perfect opportunity to give the brand spanking new Acura NSX GT3 (still a Honda) its first proper shakedown.

Whilst Truswell himself has no Chinese origins or ethnicity, the 29th January marks the Chinese new year, and for the first time in 12 years, it's once again the year of the Snake - as a Snake himself (2001), Truswell is aiming to make it HIS year.

S2, 2025

After claiming 3 podiums and his most recent win in 2021, Truswell is aiming to return to the Formula 3 series in Season 2, 2025 in a HRT outfit.

HRT - Or Hispania Revival Team will make their Formula 3 debut in March.

Truswell says "everyone (on the service) always picks Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren liveries - to replicate their favourite team.

The thing is, they're already well-performing teams - with HRT, it's a win win - if I'm at the back, it's where HRT have been performing, and if I'm at the front - that's quite an impressive miracle for HRT - adds a little bit of fun into the sim" He added "Since the split of the sports-car and open wheel licences earlier this year, I wanted to see where my Open Wheel skill-level is... After giving GT4 one last shot in Season 1, 2025 - I saw no better opportunity than Season 2, 2025 to give my Open Wheel Licence/iRating a go" Has Truswell still got the old F3 Fire within him - or will his 2021 podium/win stream be his last?

2025 iRacing Nurburgring Endurance Championship: A GT4 Fight To The Flag! Season 2, 2025 will be Truswell's biggest yet as he is gunning for his first championship title: The Nurburgring Endurance Championship. Seems an impossible task, but Truswell says it's "managable"

Speaking to Kabort.com he said

"There's 9 rounds a year, once a month - and only about 4 time-slots - with work, I'll be able to take the time off to give it my best shot." He added:

"Most are only really interested in GT3 - So the GT4 Division title is achievable. It won't be an easy feat - but given enough strong results/finishes, I think I'm within a chance. "

In the last year, Truswell has had an incredibly mixed bag of results in regards to NEC - finishing (in class):

Round 2 (2023): 3rd

Round 3 (2023): 7th

Round 5 (2024): 5th If he can pack these sorts of punches for 9 rounds straight - and cut down on the DNF's - so long as other drivers miss races - I think we'll be in for a thrilling championship fight.

That's not to forget Ringmeister and the Nurburgring 24 Hours which also offer ample of practice alongside his NEC fight.

Alongside his real-life commitments, Truswell is aiming to do "The Holy Trinity" of the Nurburgring, Le Mans(ish)* and Spa 24 Hours.

S3, 2025

Aside from one off events (Week 13, Special Events and Ringmeister) Truswell's last GT3 race was back in April 2023, almost two years ago - with the brand spanking new NSX on its way - and the engine in the rear (just where Truswell likes it - as he's shown with the Lamborghini and Ferrari GT3 cars) - Season 3, 2025 will see Truswell return to the GT3 scene. Can he keep up his GT4 pace in a different class?

S4, 2025

To finish the year, we'll all find out if Truswell's NEC Championship bid was successful or not - and despite the controversy, the new Supercars for the Bathurst 1000km will be a new beast to tame - few were able to tame the Holden - can Truswell tame the Camaro when it comes along? Find out in September '25.

It will be absolutely thrilling to find out how much damage Truswell can repair - and see where he is this time next year - is he higher? Lower? New records broken?

Currently he sits right in the thick of iRatings set in October & November 2022

I'm just keeping this in for a slice of context - whilst writing this, I'd like to see how much I've improved since: "Truswell's 100th best iRating currently sits at 1221. Let's see if he can challenge that by mid-November 2025."

The next goal is to return to the 1300's and "The July Downfall" - the first "comeback" I attempted earlier this year - this has sort of turned into a "comeback of a comeback".
