A Dramatic December

1/12/2022 As I headed back to Essex, midnight struck, and registrations for the Winter Nurburgring 24 Hours closed.

81 Teams had registered, only 60 would race. At this point, we were sitting RIGHT on the fence - whilst we were 15th (Top 14 + 1 Wildcard - last year's winners), the Wildcard team hadn't put a valid Permit time in - and with just two permit sessions left to go, they are still yet to put in a time - so Kabort is very much holding onto the edge of their seats, and doing everything to try and bump up their lap-time.

Meanwhile, in Essex

Thursday was meant to be my last day on the mainland before heading back to the Isle Of Wight for Week 13, The Nurburgring 24 Hours and Christmas - but I soon realised I forgot my bag (laptop and a few other bits in it), so whilst seeing a friend that day, I asked her if we could drive up to Essex to grab my bag - to which she agreed - usually we just head to McDonalds, but today...was different.

The main reason for getting the bag was because she had left some things in my bag (when we went to comicon) and I wanted to return them to her - but alas, the little road-trip went well and was very enjoyable - although I had to re-book a ferry as I wouldn't be going from Surrey to Lymington, I'd be going from Essex, to Surrey to Lymington (on the way home).

There wasn't all too much to report on the trip, yes there was a moronic BMW driver, but that's their personality, so nothing new there.

Whilst driving, it got incredibly foggy, and made the roads very atmospheric.

After dropping my friend off, I started on the long drive home.

On my way home, I had an extremely close call, braking almost to the extent of using my ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System), all I saw was four headlights through the fog (two pairs) - and knew I had to be on the brakes.

I have no idea where it was - the fog was just that thick and there were no landmarks around to be seen. I strongly suspect somewhere in Surrey, as I joined the A3 pretty soon after - and it was on a hilly single carriage (rural) road - but it really did make me think about what COULD have happened hadn't I braked, or had I been distracted, or had I had a car close behind me.

I got on the midnight ferry, which was surprisingly populated, before arriving home at 1am yesterday.

Friday was pretty uneventful, (except job-centre) and now I have some blogs to write!

Thank you all so much for reading, I'll catch you around.
